Arrange the fractions ; $\frac{12}{15}$; $\frac{15}{20}$ from the greatest to the least

Viết các phân số:; $\frac{12}{15}$; $\frac{15}{20}$ theo thứ tự từ lớn đến bé.

Bài làm:

To write fractions in order from from the greatest to the least we have to compare the fractions with each other.

Để viết được các phân số theo thứ tự từ lớn đến bé ta phải so sánh các phân số với nhau.

:; $\frac{12}{15}$; $\frac{15}{20}$ is not minimalist, so we shorten it as follows:

:; $\frac{12}{15}$; $\frac{15}{20}$ chưa tối giản nên ta rút gọn như sau:

Dividing both the numerator and the denominator of gives 4 gives us:

Chia cả tử và mẫu của cho 4 ta được:

=$\frac{8÷4}{12÷4}$=$\frac{2}{3}$

Dividing both the numerator and the denominator of gives 3 gives us:

Chia cả tử và mẫu của cho 3 ta được:

=$\frac{12÷3}{15÷3}$=$\frac{4}{5}$

Dividing both the numerator and the denominator of gives 3 gives us:

Chia cả tử và mẫu của cho 5 ta được:

=$\frac{15÷5}{20÷5}$=$\frac{3}{4}$

The fractions: ; $\frac{4}{5}$; $\frac{3}{4}$ are not the same denominators, so we make them have the same denominator

Các phân số : ; $\frac{4}{5}$; $\frac{3}{4}$ không cùng mẫu số nên ta quy đồng.

=$\frac{2\times 5\times 4}{3\times 5\times 4}$=$\frac{40}{60}$

=$\frac{4\times 3\times 5}{3\times 5\times 4}$=$\frac{48}{60}$

=$\frac{3\times 3\times 5}{3\times 5\times 4}$=$\frac{45}{60}$

Compare the three fractions with the same denominator as 60:

So sánh ba phân số có cùng mẫu số là 60:

4060 < 4560 < 4860 ( vì 40 < 45 < 48)
